Trouble allowing attachment through Watchguard gateway anti-virus scanner

Question : Trouble allowing attachment through Watchguard gateway anti-virus scanner

I’m running Fireware 10.0.2 and I’m having a problem exempting a file type from the AV scanner (SMTP Proxy).

Could someone walk me through this?

I’ve tried exempting the file by setting up a rule to match the pattern *.snp and told it to allow this pattern. I’ve placed it at the top of the content types and filenames list saved the config to the firebox and it still blocks the file with a decompression error. ProxyStrip: SMTP Cannot perform Gateway AV scan (SMTP-proxy-00) error=”Decompression error: invalid type” filename=”20080416.snp”

Is there something I’m missing here? The only way I’ve gotten it to go through is if I set the scanner to lock a file when an error occurs but that will not work for me because we receive these files as a part of our daily work.

Thanks for your help.

Solution: Trouble allowing attachment through Watchguard gateway anti-virus scanner

I ended up turning off the gateway AV scanner for SMTP and allowing my email antivirus solution do it’s job instead. The inability to allow certain file attachments to circumvent the AV scan was too limiting for me.
