Get Unread Email Count And Launch Web Mail From Ubuntu Unity Launcher

Unity Mail Count is a Unity Launcher indicator and web mail launcher which displays the unread email count from your Inbox and allows launching your webmail from within the Unity launcher quick list (using your default browser). It works with IMAP-4 compatible servers and provides support for multiple email accounts.

Unity Mail Count can be installed by entering the following commands in a Terminal window:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mitya57/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-mail

Once installed, drag and drop the Unity Mail Count shortcut from the Dash to the Unity Launcher to create a launcher shortcut. You can use the quick list to launch Compose Mail, Inbox, Sent Messages and for configuring email accounts.

Clicking on Change Account Details will allow you to setup a mail account by entering the host server IMAP URL,  port and login information. Multiple accounts can be configured by selecting the required number from above.

Once you have configured your account(s), you will get unread email count from your Unity launcher.
