How To Create Totem Unity Launcher Quicklist In Ubuntu Linux

Totem is the default media player in Ubuntu. Since long this application has served as a premium media player for the Gnome desktop. This GStreamer based media player despite its great features has lacked a Unity Launcher Quicklist.

Not having a quicklist has been a huge short coming for Totem. However, that has been changed by the efforts of a third-part developer who has created a Totem Quicklist for the Unity Launcher. This quicklist can be used to perform video controlling functions such as Play, Pause, Next, Previous, Volume Up, Volume Down and Mute options.

To create the Totem quicklist,  download the package from the download link given at the end of this post and extract the contents of the compressed archive. After that,  double click to launch the .SH file and click on the Run in Terminal button.

This create a Unity Launcher Quicklist for totem media player. You can right click on the Totem icon from the Unity Launcher to perform video control functions like  Play/Pause, Volume Control and the like.

I tested the Totem quicklist on Ubuntu 11.10 which means that it can be used on both Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot. You can download the Totem .SH file from the download link below, which is a direct link.
