In a previous post I showed you How To Make Ubuntu Look Like Mac OS X Lion, this time I have another transformation guide, to make your Ubuntu desktop look like Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0. Ice Cream Shell theme is a Gnome Shell, which is based on the default theme of Android 4.0. This theme can be easily applied in Gnome 3, by using the Gnome Tweak Tool. Below is a step by step guide to give your Ubuntu desktop the Android look.
- You will require the Gnome shell to be installed. For more information, see Gnome Shell installation instructions here
Download Roboto Font
- Ice Cream Shell
- Android ICS 4.0 Wallpaper 1 or
- Android ICS 4.0 Wallpaper
Step 1: Download, extract the ICS Roboto font and install it.
Step 2: Install the Gnome Tweak Tool.
Step 3: Install the User-Theme GNOME Shell extension by entering the following commands in the Terminal.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/gnome3 sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme
Step 4: Hit ALT + F2, type R, followed by ENTER or simply log out and log back in for the changes to take effect.
Step 5: Launch the Gnome Tweak Tool and turn on “User Theme Extensions”, from Shell Extensions section.
Step 6: Download and extract the ICS Shell GNOME Shell theme to Home/Username/.Themes folder (create the directory if there is none).
Step 7: Launch the Gnome Tweak Tool and select the “Ice Cream Shell”.
The below screenshots display the UI changes that will be implemented after the installation of the Ice Cream Shell.
