Stream YouTube Videos Without Flash In High Quality [Ubuntu Linux]

Gmediafinder is an Ubuntu Linux application which allows streaming videos from Youtube and other media streaming websites without th need for flash. This desktop program supports websites like Mp3Realm, YouTube, Skreemr, Tagoo,Imusicz and Dilandau. You can stream videos in both FLV and Mp4 formats, directly from Gmediafinder and download them in a selected resolution and high quality. This provides the ability to easily search, stream and download videos and music right from the desktop.

 

Gmediafinder can be installed on Ubuntu by entering the following command line in the Terminal:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:s-lagui/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gmediafinder

Just select a website to stream media from, enter a search term in the search box and click Find.

A list of relevant videos will be displayed according to your search criteria. Double click any video to start stream it. You can also select a desired format and resolution  (e.g. 320×240 FLV, 640×360 Mp4 and 1280×720 Mp4). To further refine your search, select a search criteria, i.e. Most Recent, Most viewed, Most Rated or Most Relevant.

The streaming video can be downloaded by clicking on the Download button.

A default resolution can be selected by clicking on the Settings button. This resolution can later be switched from the drop down menu below the streaming video.
