How To Enable Offline Speech Recognition On Google Nexus 7

Speech Recognition has become an essential feature of portable devices including smartphones and tablets. However, acquiring this functionality offline is not always all that simple, in fact it is not even available for most portable devices. Fortunately, you can easily use offline speech recognition on Google Nexus 7. This functionality should be automatically available for the Nexus 7 tablet, if you have received the Over The Air (OTA) update for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The Offline Speech Recognition allows users to benefit from voice dictation even when they are not connected to the internet. This is one smart feature that is not even available for iOS devices such as iPad. In case this feature isn’t enabled for your default language, then follow the simple steps given below.

Step 1: Head over to Settings, followed by Language & input.

Step 2: Ensure that Google voice typing is enabled on your device and hit Settings button next to this option.

Step 3: Select Download Offline Speech Recognition. It is likely that your required language pack will already be available, however, in case that is not the case, then tap all and to download it.

And that’s all you need to do to acquire Offline Speech Recognition functionality on the Nexus 7 tablet. It is likely that we will see more interesting features from Google as more OTA updates become available.
