Create A Secure WiFi Hotspot With MyPublicWiFi

Normally, a wireless internet connections can be easily shared using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) or by setting up an Ad-hoc network connection. While you can use a Wi-Fi router for connecting multiple computers, Android, iPhone or Symbian devices to the internet, your router might not be able to support too many connections at the same time. Furthermore, you might require boosting the internet connection signals to allow other machines (such as a desktop computer with a Wi-Fi card) to be able to receive proper Wi-Fi signals. In such a case, one can create a Wi-Fi hotspot with the help of applications like MHotSpot and  MaryFi. However, these applications do not provide options to use a firewall for securing the network. MyPublicWiFi is a free software for creating a free Wi-Fi hotspot that turns your computer into a wireless router, with Firewall protection and URL logging. This can be useful for setting up a secure Wireless internet connection to instantly share your internet connection with multiple devices via your computer.

To use MyPublickWiFi, you might require enabling ICS (Internet Connection Sharing). To do that, see instructions here. Once done, launch MyPublicWiFi, enter a name for your network (e.g. My Network) and enter a network key for your hotspot. Now,  select your wireless adapter from the drop down box and click Setup and Start Hotspot.

This will activate your Wi-Fi hotspot, which you can use to connect other PCs and mobile devices (such as an iOS or Android device). The below screenshots demonstrate how the Wi-Fi connect will become available for multiple devices, after you start the hotspot.
