SocialFolders is a robust web service that allows downloading and uploading data to and from your social accounts from your hard drive. It has desktop applications for both Windows and Mac OS X and supports many popular services including Facebook, Google Docs, Flickr, Picasa, YouTube, Box.net, Instagram and Photobucket.
SocialFolders creates a single folder on your hard disk, which contains all your albums documents and other downloaded files from various online accounts in conveniently organized folders. Each sub-folder is named according to the web service for which it contains downloaded data. This makes it easy to manage downloaded content. You can also quickly upload files without having to open the browser or logging into your online account.
To download/upload your social account data, launch the SocialFolders application (for Windows or Mac OS X), and sign in/up for an account.
Once you sign up, you will be redirected to the SocialFolders website. From there you can to connect any of the supported services.
When you connect an account, you will be asked to allow access to SocialFolders so that your content can be downloaded. After that, you will be presented with the option to download your data such as your albums, documents, etc from connected accounts. After selecting the data to download (e.g. album names) click I’m Done.
This will create a folder on the hard drive and synchronize your data with all connected accounts as you make changes to them. To change your preferences for downloading and synchronizing data or connecting additional accounts, head back to the SocialFolders website and login with your account credentials.
It must be noted that SocialFolders application does not have any interface of its own, and merely provides a system tray menu and a folder with your data.
You can instantly synchronize all connected accounts with your local folder by selecting Refresh all my SocialFolders option from the system tray. By default the hard disk folder in Windows is located at: C:\Users\Administrator\Documents\my Social Folders in Windows (provided C is your primary drive). You can auto start SocialFolders at system startup, manage login credentials and configure proxy settings from Preferences option within the system tray menu.
