The Windows 8 Aero effect is slightly different from Windows 7 Aero. In this post I will tell you how to get the Windows 8 style Aero Glass Effect for Windows 7. The below procedure involves using a simple third-party theme called Windows 8 VS for Win7, which has been developed by “fediaFedia”. The style itself is quite simple and not much has been changed. The only difference is how the Windows 7 frames look after this theme is applied.
To install this theme you will first require installing Theme “Uxtheme Multi-Patcher” (download link given at the end of this post). Once the theme patcher is installed, launch it and click Patch.
Now, download the Windows 8 VS for Win7 Theme and do the following:
- Extract content of the downloaded file.
- Go to “Theme for Windows 7” folder and copy everything from there to: C:\windows\resources\themes
- Double click Aero8.theme file to apply it.
To undo the changes, simply select a different theme from personalize menu (accessible by right-clicking on the desktop). The two screenshots below demonstrate the Aero styles of both Windows 7 and Windows 8.
