Free Opener is a free application which supports a large number of file extensions, including video, audio, document, compression and image formats. Once you install this application, you will no longer need standalone PDF viewer, multimedia player or an app for opening compressed and document files. It is quite lightweight and consumes merely 56 MB of memory.
It can open 75+ file formats. The supported file types include the following:
Audio And Video Formats:
AVI, MKV, FLV, WMV, MOV, MP4, MPEG, MP3, MPG
Image And Document Formats:
PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLSX, XLS, TXT, PSD, CRW, GIF, JPG, LOG, PNG, BMP, ICO, DNG.
Compression Formats:
ZIP and 7Z
Development Formats:
XML, HTML, PHP, CSS, CFG, HTM,CS, INI.
Miscellaneous Formats:
JAR, SWF, CR2, MSG, NEF, TIFF, JS, XLSM, WA, REG, ARW, MID, ORF, RAF, PEF, RESX, CF2, ERF, MEF, MRW, SR2 and X3F.
To open a file, click on Open button from File drop down menu.
You can play the supported video formats without the need of many standalone players like an FLV players such as Real Player or a paid application for playing HD formats. Relevant options for the opened files are automatically displayed, such as navigation buttons of a media player.
Similarly, opening an image displays relevant image copying and viewing options from File and Edit drop down menus. Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that unfortunately Free Opener does not have a built in image editor.
Free Opener supports MS Office, PDF, Text and many other document formats.
Likewise, you can open and edit many development formats (e.g. PHP).
You can customize it with a number of available themes. The default skin is Office Blue, but the Windows Aero look can be enabled by selecting the Professional System skin from Edit -> Preferences.
