Quickly Download Large Files With Microsoft Download Manager

Microsoft Download Manager is a Microsoft software for quick downloading of large files, such as application and media files. It is mainly designed to help users download files from Microsoft based websites, however, it can also be used as a common download manager.

Using Microsoft Download Manager is easy, click on New download from the main interface, and copy, paste a URL for downloading a file.

Make sure you copy the link location to of the download URL before pasting it to, avoid invalid URL errors (as shown in the below screenshot).

Microsoft Download Manager can be useful for downloading media files, software and ISO images of RTM builds and trail version of Microsoft based operating system, as well as other files from unrelated websites.

Microsoft Download Manager works on the following Windows based operating systems:

  • Windows XP
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2003 has not been mentioned by Microsoft as a supported operating system on the Microsoft website. Supported browsers include Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. It is worth mentioning here that during testing the results were not as good as one would expect and the use of tools like Orbit exceed the functionality of this tool by a long shot.
