Metadata of pictures can contain personal information about a user,as well as extra imagery which one might not be willing to share. For example, Photoshop generates a small preview of images which is hidden in the original image. If you simply crop the picture and resave it under the same file name, the preview thumbnail reflects not what your image currently looks like, but instead what the original image was like. Furthermore, EXIF data can end up displaying your geo location , postal code, etc (information which might have been added to the camera settings). This data can be misused by scammers from your pictures which may have been shared online.
