Sleep Preventer is a free and portable software which prevents disruptive features of a power conserving power plan from being activated during important tasks. For example, instead of switching your power plan from Power Saver to High Performance, you can simply activate Sleep Preventer to avoid your system from going into hibernation, sleep mode, etc. This ensures that you are able to carry on with your important tasks such as a download, system backup, etc and prevent your computer from going into sleep mode or hibernation due to inactivity.
To prevent your computer from going into sleep mode, hibernation and to avoid a dim display and screensaver, launch Sleep Preventer and click Prevent Sleep button.
Once your task is complete, you can enable power conserving features again by double clicking on the Sleep Preventer icon from system tray and clicking on Preventing Sleep.
You can also toggle these options on/off from the system tray menu.
