Question : DHCP error 1035 & 1036
Hello-
I have 2 windows server 2008R2 domain controllers. in addition to the AD tasks, they are DNS and DHCP servers. Every time the server boots or I restart DHCP, I get 2 error events:
1035: The DHCP service was unable to create or lookup the DHCP Users local group on this computer. The error code is in the data.
1036: The DHCP server was unable to create or lookup the DHCP Administrators local group on this computer. The error code is in the data.
The DHCP service seems to run properly. I believe that since these servers are DCs, there are no local groups to be found, and thus the errors…
So, the questions:
Is this a big problem?
Is there a workaround/fix?
Is it a best practice to run DHCP on domain member servers? (this is a small network, so there are no resource worries).
