Problem : SQL Server monitor is flagging errors for “Excess Total committed memory” and Cache memory

We are using a network monitoring system (OpManager) which is a flagging a SQL Server error for “Excess Total committed memory needed” and cache memory.  See attached screenshots for more inormation on the threshold set, ect.

Are our threshold too low for these? What is “committed memory”? It appears the that cache memory is continually growing. Is it something we need to monitor — and potentially flush out when it gets too high?

Solution: SQL Server monitor is flagging errors for “Excess Total committed memory” and Cache memory

To set SQL Server memory to more than 2GB in a 32bits enviroment you will need to activate AWE.
Anyway I think you may ignore the “Excess total committed memory”.
