New Warzone map & more

According to report, the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 will be a three-pillared offering with a story campaign, multiplayer, and a co-op experience. Unlike previous Modern Warfare titles, which have always featured Spec-Ops as the co-op mode, Modern Warfare 3 is rumored to feature Zombies as a first for the modern military subseries.

In addition, the new Warzone map for the game’s first season, which is said to begin on December 5, is an enlarged version of Las Almas, a location featured in both the Modern Warfare 2 campaign and multiplayer.

Is Call of Duty 2023 a sequel to Modern Warfare 2?

Despite the lack of any official announcements, Insider Gaming stated that Modern Warfare 2 will be “a fully-fledged sequel” to Modern Warfare 2 in 2022. So, it’s safe to assume that Call of Duty 2023’s campaign will continue right where the current game left off. There’s also a chance that plot elements from the original game from 2011 will make their way into the new one.

With two major installments of the same Call of Duty subseries releasing in back-to-back years, fans have reason to be concerned about how iterative this sequel will be, especially since it began as DLC. While Sledgehammer Games is a slightly younger studio, having launched Call of Duty: Vanguard a year and a half ago, it will be interesting to see if it can deliver something special.
