Parting The Veil is a post-campaign quest on Neomuna introduced with Destiny 2 Season of the Deep, and this guide will show you how to complete it.
Destiny 2 Guide – How to complete the Parting the Veil quest
Here’s a quick rundown of all the Parting the Veil steps, followed by a more detailed version below.
- Defeat Cabal in Neomuna to find Vex tracking data.
- Acquire Vex data from Maya’s Retreat.
- Acquire additional Vex data from the exterior of the Irkalla Complex.
- Complete the Mission Parting the Veil.
- Meditate on your findings
1. Defeat Cabal in Neomuna to find Vex tracking data
For this first step, you have to defeat Cabal enemies and get Vex Tracking Data. This simple step is the same on most planets as any Patrol. Kill enemies of the Cabal and pick up the things they drop.
2. Acquire Vex Data From Maya’s Retreat
The second step of Parting The Veil takes players to Maya’s Retreat.
Upon arrival, you will see a massive Vex Conflux that must be entered, but be warned that many Vex foes stand in your way. In order to complete this quest step, players must defeat three waves of extremely powerful Vex enemies and retrieve the Vex Data from the Conflux.
Since the Vex are so powerful, we took our time and shot at them from a safe distance. It may take some time to grind out the kills, but you can do it without too much frustration.
3. Acquire Additional Vex Data From the Exterior of the Irkalla Complex
This step of the quest requires you to head to the Irkalla Complext using the provided waypoints and clear out three waves of nasty Vex enemies.
Unlike the previous step, this one features a sturdy platform from which to fire at the Vex. It’s also useful for hiding in and keeping the Vex from swarming you. You only need to drop down to finish off the larger enemies and use Supers to thin out the herd of shiny robot foes. Once all of the waves have been defeated, you can claim the Vex Data from the Conflux.
4. Complete the Mission Parting the Veil
If you’ve already done the previous step, you’ll be able to start the next mission right next to the Irkalla Complex. It’s called Parting The Veil, and it’s required to move forward in the quest.
The mission takes you deep beneath Neomuna, to The Veil and the arena where you faced Calus. If you’re following the quest from the menu, you’ll find convenient checkpoints that will speed up your progress. After collecting some interesting logs, you are forced to kill Taken enemies and then a formidable Tormentor boss known as Imprint of Nezarec.
The best way to defeat it is to clear the area of all mobs first. Because of its large moveset, it can block paths and make life difficult if not dealt with quickly. If you want to deal maximum damage without taking too many hits, a ranged super is your best bet. If the boss proves to be too powerful, a Strand Subclass equipped with Grapple can be quite useful. Machine Guns seem to be the most effective weapon for dealing damage to Imprint of Nezarec, though any weapon will do provided you are confident in your ability to take enough shots.
5. Meditate on Your Findings
With the Tormentor boss defeated, it’s time to return to the Hall of Heroes and process what has occurred. Once there, players will find a note as well as the Masterworked Epochal Integration Hand Cannon. This is a good Season of the Deep weapon, but the real benefit of completing this quest is the new Strand Aspect, which can now be found when you meditate at the Pouka Pond.
