It’s possible that R99 will be nerfed in Apex Legends Season 17

The upcoming May 9 release of Season 17 of Apex Legends has the community excited for all the new features that will be added. With the overhaul World’s Edge map, the weapon mastery system, and the addition of the Ballistic Legend, Respawn hopes to hit a home run with Arsenal.

Despite this, many players are interested in the upcoming changes to the game’s weapons, and one appears to have been leaked early. Based on early gameplay from Respawn, it appears that the popular R99 is getting a nerf.

As demonstrated by YouTuber Bobz, it seems the developers have decided to slightly tweak the weapon’s power by reducing the total number of bullets in its magazine by 1. This reduces the 240 maximum damage per clip to the body to 228.

Even with this neft, the R99’s damage is still sufficient to one-clip someone wearing red armor. Therefore, it’s highly unlikely that this minor adjustment will affect the gun’s standing in the meta.

Since this is just a leak, we’ll have to wait and see if the gameplay reflects the changes made to Apex Legends in Season 17.
