Mortal Kombat 1 – Release date, trailer, platforms & more

Mortal Kombat 1 release date

Here is all the information we have so far about Mortal Kombat 1, including the release date, official trailer, available platforms, and more.

Mortal Kombat 1 – Release date

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 18, 2023, with early access beginning on September 14 if you preorder the special editions.

Mortal Kombat 1 – Supported platforms

The game will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, but no PS4 or Xbox One versions will be available. Surprisingly, Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on Nintendo Switch as a full-fledged version developed by Shiver Entertainment and Saber Interactive, with oversight provided by NetherRealm. The PC version is being worked on by QLOC.

Mortal Kombat 1 – Official trailer

The new trailer certainly gives fans a lot to think about, showcasing a number of familiar faces and catching players up on what they’ve been up to since Mortal Kombat 11’s cataclysmic events. Liu Kang is now the Fire God, Raiden is a regular farmer, and Scorpion and Sub-Zero appear to be getting along better. Everything is as it should be, but the battle continues.

The title may be “Mortal Kombat 1,” but this is not the remake we were anticipating. Instead, the plot of this new game appears to continue from where the last one left off.

Unsurprisingly, the new trailer also highlights what has remained the same. Despite Liu Kang’s attempt to give the multiverse a fresh start, things are still going to get hella violent, and Shang Tsung is still lurking as a playable character for those who place their preorders early enough. And it turns out that audiences are pretty stoked about that, albeit with some reservations.

Mortal Kombat 1 – Price

Mortal Kombat 1 will cost $70 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. This will be the base price, with the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition costing $110 and the Kollector’s Edition costing $250.

Mortal Kombat 1 – Character roster

Here are all of the Mortal Kombat 1 characters that have been revealed thus far:

  • Scorpion
  • Sub-Zero
  • Liu Kang
  • Raiden
  • Kung Lao
  • Kitana
  • Mileena
  • Shang Tsung
  • Johnny Cage

Mortal Kombat 1 – Gameplay

NetherRealm hasn’t shown off any gameplay yet, but the developer says that Mortal Kombat 1 will feature a new fighting system, game modes, bone-crushing finishing moves, and more. One of these new systems is Kameo Fighters, which sadly isn’t related to a great Xbox 360 game. Instead, they’re a distinct group of partners who will assist you during matches and are chosen independently from the main fighter roster.

Preordering any version of Mortal Kombat 1 grants access to Shang Tsung as a playable character, while more expensive versions grant access to DLC and/or physical bonuses.
