It’s been a while since HoYoverse announced that its popular anime action RPG Genshin Impact would be coming to Switch. Can we expect any updates on this?

Will Genshin Impact be released for the Switch?

HoYoverse confirmed that Genshin Impact would be released on Nintendo Switch in January 2020. It’s strange that there hasn’t been much news in the last three years, given that it was announced before the game was released on its current consoles. So far, the most important question has been answered: Genshin Impact should be coming to the Switch, but we don’t know when.

Since its 2017 release, the Nintendo Switch has aged rapidly. Now that it’s been on the market for over six years, some Nintendo fans are hoping the company will announce its next-generation console. Nintendo will most likely keep the Switch formula but expand on it and improve its performance. At least, that’s what many Switch fans hope for, as Nintendo’s latest main console is still very popular.

But why is HoYoverse taking so long? At this time, we don’t know the answer to that question. Genshin Impact currently supports cross-progression, which means that you can use the same account across PC, console, and mobile platforms. Cross-progression between the Switch and other consoles doesn’t sound too complicated, but I’m no expert in that area, so who knows.

Honkai: Star Rail is the latest project to receive significant attention from HoYoverse. Perhaps HoYoverse is waiting to release Genshin Impact for the Switch until after the release of their next open-world RPG on April 26 following a successful beta playtest.

It’s possible that the problem stems from Genshin Impact’s massive size. There are currently four major regions playable in this open-world ARPG, with many more promised in future updates. This game is a big download no matter what system you play it on. The Nintendo Switch relies on internal storage and microSD card storage. Genshin Impact would require too much storage space on the device’s internal memory, forcing the use of an optional and potentially expensive microSD card.

The Switch has proven itself capable of running AAA titles, so hopefully this won’t be an issue. Unfortunately, the answer to the question of whether or not Genshin Impact will be available for the Nintendo Switch is “maybe.”The good news is that it hasn’t been canceled yet, so there’s still time to turn things around!
