How To Create Google Plus Unity Launcher Quick List In Ubuntu Linux

As Google+ progress to become a leading name in the world of social networking, we are likely to see Ubuntu based tweaks and applications for it. In this post I will tell you how to create a Unity Launcher Quick list for Google+ . This launcher quick list can be used to quickly launch desired features of Google Plus from the Ubuntu Unity Launcher. For example, you can open your Google Plus Stream by selecting the appropriate option from the Unity launcher’s quick list.

Open the Terminal and enter the following commands:

wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3000127/google%2B.desktop

wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3000127/google%2B1.png

mv google+.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/

sudo mv google+1.png /usr/share/pixmaps/

Then, go to ~/.local/share/applications and drag and drop the Google+ file to the Unity Launcher. You will require hitting CTRL+H to view hidden folders such the Local directory folder.

This will create your Google Plus Unity Quick list Launcher. You can use this launcher to go to your Google Plus stream, photos, notifications, sparks, hangouts and profile.  Clicking on any of the options will launch the selected webpage in the default browser.
