Quickly Share Files With Multiple Nearby iOS Devices With Chirp

Chirp is an innovative iOS app that lets you share photos, links and notes with multiple nearby iOS devices. All you have to do is to select a URL, note or Photo and it will be instantly transferred to a nearby iPhone or iPad device running the Chirp app. In other words, no need to sign up for accounts or select individual devices as you can share your data with a number of iDevices in the vicinity by broadcasting your content via chirp.

While Chirp is a fairly simple app to use, a set of instructions are provided for end users when they launch the app. Chirp displays a log of your recent activities on the main screen to help you identify your latest activities. You can also link a Facebook or Twitter account with this app for social media integration, however unlike common mobile apps, this feature is not mandatory.

Type of Data That Can Be Shared Using Chirp

The photos that are sent by other users (nearby), appear in your feed and the feed items can be expanded for a detailed overview. To share an item, all you have to do is to hit the ‘+’ option located at the bottom bar. Chirp offers 4 ways of sharing your data including the following methods:

  1. You can share photos from the iPhone camera roll
  2. You can snap and share new images
  3. Notes can be created and shared via the Chirp app
  4. You can also add URLs to share

How To Share Items Using Chirp

Once an item has been selected for sharing, simply select the yellow button to generate a sound. Make sure that the user(s) with whom you wish to share the app have their iDevices active with the Chirp app running. By the time the short chirping sound ends, the data will be available on adjacent iDevice(s) running the Chirp app. A very handy feature of this app is that it does not have rigid prerequisites for sharing data and even works in a noisy environment.

Security Feature

The data shared via Chirp isn’t saved to your iDevice immediately and you will require tapping on the item and choosing the Save option to save the incoming data. This seems to be a security measure aimed at protecting users from saving malicious items.
