How To Create Users In Windows Home Server 2011 (Vail)

Microsoft provides the utility of adding up to 10 users which can connect to Windows Home Server 2011. These users can be created from the Dashboard. This makes the procedure different from other Windows based operating systems. See the below instructions to find out how to create users in Windows Home Server 2011 aka Vail.

To create a user, open the Dashboard (from the desktop) and go to the Users tab.

After that, click on Add A User Account and enter a first and last name, user account name, password and click Next.

You will be prompted to set user account rights for shared folders. Set the read/write permissions for all the shared folders for the user being created and click on Next.

Step-3

Set remote access settings according to your liking (such as access to shared folders, computers on the network, media, etc.) and click on Next. You can also disabled remote access to a user by clicking on “Do Not Allow Remote Web Access”.

The user has been successfully created.
