Cleanup Assistant is a feature-rich disk management tool with many integrated features that can be used to optimize your system’s performance and free clutter. Unlike many common junk file removing software it also displays and allows wiping a USB drive for file traces, removing installed programs, empty folders, duplicates files, folders, pictures, etc. You can also manage Windows Startup programs and shred specified files/folders. Besides that you can also get an overview of your disk space in the form of a pie chart with tags that label the type of item consuming disk space. Its has both a free and paid version and the latter provides even more advanced options.
To remove junk files select the Trash Cleaner from the Computer Cleanup tab and click on the scan option. This will display a list of folders and sub-folder that you can instantly remove. It is quite efficient in identifying junk files. During testing, it removed about 456 MB of clutter from my system.
To find duplicate files or folders, click on the Add button, add a file(s) or folder(s) and click Scan. This will display duplicates files which you can easily delete or move from the buttons at the bottom of the interface.
It’s program removal tool is quite helpful for identifying the amount of space each program is consuming on your system. You can scroll through the list of installed programs and remove any of them via the Remove button.
The file shredder from the Secure Removal tab provides the option to add and shred files and folders. Whereas, the Wipe USB option provides the option to wipe entire USB drives to erase your traces. Unfortunately the free space wiping option is only available in the PRO version.
You can also manage Startup options to restrict programs from starting up automatically on system startup.
You can also analyze your disk from the Charts tab and get an overview of a selected system drive in the form of a pie chart. Hovering your mouse over an area of the chart provides more information about it.
Cleanup Assistant is a good software for performing multiple tasks from a single software. Unfortunately some of its more unique features such as Music files management and tagging are not available in the free version.
