How To Enable Windows Media Center In Windows 8

Those of you who have installed Windows 8 might have noticed that Windows Media Center is missing among the available applications. A Windows 8 FAQs page has explained that Windows Media Center does not come pre-installed in Windows 8 (at least in the Release Preview). However, you can install Windows Media Center by following the steps given below.

Step 1: Bring up the Charms Bar and click Search. You can reveal the Chrams Bar by hovering the mouse to the bottom right corner of the taskbar or by using the Windows + C hotkey.

Step 2: Type “Add Features” in the Metro search box and click Settings option. From here, Select Add features to Windows 8 option.

Step 3: You will need your Windows product key to proceed further. If you are using the Windows 8 Release Preview, then see the product key given below.

Step 4: If you have selected the option “I already have a product key”, then simply add your product key and click Next. You can use the following product key for Windows 8 Release Preview: MBFBV-W3DP2-2MVKN-PJCQD-KKTF7.

This will initiate the activation of Windows Media Center on your PC. Your computer will restart at least once during the process. After your system reboots and you login, the Windows Media Center icon will appear on the Metro Start Screen.

Click on the icon From the Metro Start Screen to start Windows Media Center.
