BeCyPDFMetaEdit is free software for editing metadata and removing passwords from protected PDF documents. It allows editing the title, author, subject and keywords of a PDF file and provides customization options for viewing preferences, bookmarks, page transitions and labels. BeCyPDFMetaEdit works in three separate modes, i.e. incremental, complete overwrite and repair mode.
The first enables incremental updates to save document changes without altering the previous content. The complete overwrite mode transforms the document with all applied changes including the previous content, whereas, the repair mode can be used to repair damaged PDF documents.
When you select a PDF document, you are prompted to select an editing mode i.e. Incremental, Complete Overwrite or Repair.
After selecting the editing mode, you will be provided with a number of options to edit PDF document meta data. From the Metadata tab, you can add a title, subject, author’s name, creation date and keywords. Likewise, conflicts with XMP metadata (if applicable) can be avoided from the Metadata (XMP) tab by checking the option “Delete XMP Metadata.
Viewer Preferences tab is for changing the page layout, page mode (simple, thumbnail, full screen and the like) and for hiding toolbar, menu bar, window user interface. To set page labels or add bookmarks , go to the Pages and Bookmarks tabs
Slideshow tab provides options to add effects to PDF documents. To add an effect, select a page from right-click menu and click Edit option after which a new window will pop-up containing transition options. Select the Effect to apply, along with its duration, dimension, direction and save the document.
The below screenshot demonstrates the effect which I applied to a PDF document. When running in slideshow mode, this effect displayed the document by loading the page with applied transition effects such ad dissolve, fly, wipe, etc.
To remove password, go to the Security tab and select no encryption from drop down menu and click Save.
If you would like to add a password, select passwords with low/high encryption option and enter a password in the text box . Click Save to secure your document with password protection.
