Resident Evil 9 – Possible release date, plot details & leaks

Resident Evil 9

In this article, we’ve compiled everything we know so far about Resident Evil 9, including its release date, plot details, and more.

Is Resident Evil 9 in the works?

Following the successful remake of Resident Evil 4, fans of the survival franchise are anticipating the next RE release. While many are considering a Resident Evil 5 remake, it appears that the next installment will be a sequel to Resident Evil 8 Village.

There is currently no set release date for Resident Evil 9, and Capcom has not even confirmed that RE9 will be developed. Several speculations and rumors point to Resident Evil 9 being in development since 2018, but trusted leaker Dusk Golem has claimed that we “cannot see it releasing before 2024”.

Resident Evil 9 story details

Ethan Winters, the protagonist of Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil 8, died at the end of Resident Evil 8 and the Shadows of Rose DLC. While players may not see Ethan Winters again, his daughter Rose appears to join Chris Redfield’s “Hound Wold Squad,” which could allude to the events of RE9.

Maybe Rose will be a playable character in RE9, allowing players to witness her supernatural abilities in action. However, Chris Redfield is also a possibility, as players learn at the conclusion of RE8 that the BSAA is exploiting bio-weapons for their own ends.

According to leaks, the game’s working title is “Apocalypse,” and the plot will revolve around the “ninth moon phase.” Furthermore, leaks indicate that the game will take place in a “ghost town” in the American West, and that players will face “deformed” mythological creatures.

Keep in mind that these are just rumors and speculation, so take everything with a grain of salt. Even if many of these rumors turn out to be true, Capcom may decide to change certain aspects of the game.
