In this guide, we’ll show you how to set and change party formations in Rogue Trader, allowing you to take control of the battlefield before the first shot is even fired.

How to Set Party Formations in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

To set or modify your formation, simply:

  1. Open theĀ Pause Menu.
  2. Click on theĀ Formation button. This will open a menu showcasing six default formations.

The first formation, automatically placing your melee units in the front line, is fixed. However, the remaining five formations are customizable. They are initially set with your Rogue Trader leading the line, followed by melee units and then ranged units.

How to Customize Formations

For situations that demand a different approach, you can personalize these formations. Click and drag any unit to a new position on the grid to adjust its placement. Holding Shift, LT, or L2 (depending on your input device) allows free movement without snapping to the grid. This allows for precise positioning tailored to your strategy.

Remember, you can create and save multiple formations for various scenarios. For instance, you can set up a defensive formation with ranged units in the front for ranged encounters or an aggressive formation with melee units at the forefront for close-quarter combat. This flexibility allows you to adapt to the ever-changing threats of the universe.

By understanding how to set and change formations, you gain a significant advantage in Rogue Trader’s tactical battles. Experiment with different formations and learn how to adapt them to different situations. This mastery of positioning will help you overcome even the most challenging encounters and survive the perils of the Warhammer 40K universe.
