Hold onto your laspistols, Rogue Traders! Owlcat Games, the developer behind the recently released CRPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, has announced a delay for its first expansion, Void Shadows.

Originally slated for an August 8th launch, the expansion will now set sail on September 24th, 2024. The delay comes as Owlcat prioritizes polishing the expansion. “We’ve been putting everything we have into the development of it,” the developer said in a statement, “but we now see that while the new additions to the game are awesome, the technical quality is not quite there yet.”
This extra development time will ensure a smoother experience for players as they explore the depths of their ship and potentially find love with a new companion. Owlcat apologized for the delay and expressed their appreciation for fan understanding.
What to Expect in Void Shadows
Void Shadows promises a hefty 15-hour storyline that unfolds entirely aboard your personal flagship. However, things have taken a turn for the worse – a Genestealer Cult infestation threatens to overrun your vessel. It’s up to you, the Rogue Trader, to eradicate this insidious threat.
The expansion also introduces a new romanceable companion, adding another layer to your crew management.
Beyond the Expansion
Owlcat is working on a major update alongside Void Shadows, expected to arrive around the same time. This update will introduce a highly-requested feature: auto-leveling for your party members. This will be a boon for players who find the manual leveling process tedious.
The delay of Void Shadows shouldn’t impact the release of the second planned DLC, currently scheduled for December 2024.
When Void Shadows sets sail on September 24th, it will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. So, prepare your crew, Rogue Traders, and set course for a (slightly delayed) adventure!
