Problem: New Watchguard X550e won’t allow activeX and Java downloads…

I just installed a new X550e firebox, and now users are not able to download java script, or even java exe (I even tried downloading directly from the sun/java website)….I’ve searched Watchguard tech support site, and followed the ‘allow application’ in the firewall ‘Http Proxy” proxy exceptions method,  but still getting a denial.  I’m using XML file with watchguard system manager 10.0 interface.  I had a Firebox III 500 using .cfg files previously, and since there is no conversion tool between these two configuration methods,  setup has been a bear.  So many settings…If you could help point me in the right direction, it would be GREATLY appreciated.  Getting tech support from Watchguard directly can take a long time.

getting this when trying to download java direct from site:

Response denied by WatchGuard HTTP proxy.
Reason: body content-type denied rule=’Windows EXE/DLL’
Method: GET
Host: sdlc-esd.sun.com
Path: /ESD39/JSCDL/jdk/6u5b/jre-6u5-windows-i586-p-s.exe?AuthParam=1209409699_be4944d8f6b0b2116b4a8a3879f166d8&GroupName=JSC&BHost=javadl.sun.com&FilePath=/ESD39/JSCDL/jdk/6u5b/

Solution: New Watchguard X550e won’t allow activeX and Java downloads…

No problem, we all are here to help and learn! 🙂

Add service as usual [in Policy Manager; click Edit->Add Policy] and from packet filters select “HTTP” and click Add button; if you are creating service for outbound traffic [from trusted network to internet]; there is nothing else to configure; click OK; click Close button to close Add policies window.
If you need service for inbound traiffc (from internet to your web server which is on the trusted network); then configure the service incoming part same as proxyHTTP.

Please implement and update; also let know if you need more details.
