Problem: PPP Adapter RAS Server (Dial In) missing the Line NetBIOS over TcpIP Disabled
PPP adapter RAS Server (Dial In) Interface:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-53-45-00-00-00
DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.9.201
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :
However, there is a line after the default Gateway which is missing:
NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . Enabled or Disabled.
This is setup properly on my other server and it works fine, What could I be doing wrong. This is causing a failure from a client trying to connect to this server using a VPN Connection.
Solution: PPP Adapter RAS Server (Dial In) missing the Line NetBIOS over TcpIP Disabled
>>”I Upgraded this server from Server 2003 to Small Business Server 2003 Premium”
I wasn’t aware you could do that upgrade, but assumed if it work you would get the appropriate management tools. I assume you have Exchange, and the other incorporated components?
>>” hence the Server management is not available. Is this something I can Download and Install.”
No, it is unique to small business server. It should be located on the start menu or go directly to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Administration\LaunchConsole.exe
Another unique feature that probably completely eliminates the need for the VPN is RWW (Remote Web Workplace). RWW allows you to securely connect to any server or workstation in the domain using remote desktop. See:

>>”….The PPP Adapter IP Address does not …”
I don’t understand why you are trying to connect to the PPP address. This is a dynamic IP assigned to the server or client. You would not use these addresses to connect to anything on the LAN.
You also mentioned SBS Premium. Premium includes ISA Server, which is a firewall. Have you installed that as well.
