Problem : Net User – Computers not registered
I’m trying to send messages using the net user command. All computers are in the same network and domain. Computers can see, ping and share files. The command does not work with computer names or IPs but does work when sent to the whole domain.
nbtstat -n only returns the workgroup and the computer’s name as registered. nbstat -r returns all the computers. The messenger and netbios over TCP are active. I think the computers dont get registered somehow.

Solution: Net User – Computers not registered
This is typical of NetBeui. I would recommend changing all of your clients to TCP/IP. This will allow you to setup host files on all computers if your network is small enough and then you won’t have to deal with the delays associated with Netbeui and master browser issues. Move to TCP/IP.
