Problem : WINS problem? nbtstat -n conflict

I changed my subnets last weekend and have still not fully recovered.  I have 5 servers, of whic 2 are DC’s.  Both are also DNS and WINS servers.  The PDC is named as IsDomainMaster in the browser registry.  Once I changed subnets, we had some intermittent browsing problems.  I looked at the WINS database and of course there were statics that referred to my servers under their old subnet addresses.  I deleted anything that referred to the former subne, and rebooted both servers.  Neither one can browse.  browstat shows the PDC has “no domain browsing”.  browstat on the other DC says “can’t get to the browser list on (PDC)”.  FInally I checked nbtstat and it shows:

LAN 1:
Node IpAddress: [10.10.1.34] Scope Id: [
NetBIOS Local Name Table
Name               Type         Status
———————————————
MYPDC            UNIQUE      Conflict
MYDOMAIN          GROUP       Registered
MYDOMAIN          GROUP       Registered
MYPDC            UNIQUE      Conflict
MYDOMAIN          UNIQUE      Registered
MYPDC            UNIQUE      Conflict
ADMINISTRATOR    UNIQUE      Registered
MYDOMAIN          GROUP       Registered
MYDOMAIN          UNIQUE      Registered
..__MSBROWSE__.  GROUP       Registered

I deleted the statics from the WINS database that referred to these records – conflicts still show up!  This machine has 2 NICs but only one enabled.  I’m stumped.  –Dale

Solution : WINS problem? nbtstat -n conflict

Then what you do to one database should replicate to the other. I would delete all WINS entries and reboot. You are on the right track …
