Make A Portable Web Server With HTTP Explorer

HTTP explorer is an open source web server (also available with an installer) which can be used to share your music, videos and images for multiple web displays (e.g. PC, mobile phones, PDA). What makes it unique is that you can launch a portable web server to run webpages and to share content. The main features of this software include the ability to stream media , files sorting (by date, size, type, album, artist), applying IP filters, enabling quota limit for downloads/uploads and much more. You can initiate and halt the server via a simple Start/Stop button. It’s portable version enables the choice of carrying a simple software anywhere on a USB drive for initiating a web server. This eliminates the need of complex server setup and provides options for performing some of the common tasks such as file sharing and web page hosting that a web server can provide.

To get started, add a server path and local path to create a share. After that, select the permissions that you would like to grant to the added share. Also select the type of files to share e.g. folders, music files, images, etc. Click the Start button to start the server. Use the Transfer or History tab to view file transfer information and history.

The Configurations tab allows managing web server options such as file tagging, page appearance, applying IP filters, setting local paths, adding users, applying quota for uploads/downloads, etc.
