Problem : changing volume shadow copy location “error 0x8004231d”
I am trying to change the drive location for shadow copies on my server and am having trouble doing so.
Under local disc setting i click the shadow copies tab, the Volume is Drive F: which is OK but the current drive for the storage area is H: which now needs to be changed to F:
When I drop the tab down and select F: I get the following error message
Failed to creat the storage area association
Error 0x8004231d: the specified shadow copy storage association is in use and so cant be deleted.
What do I need to do to accomplish this…….. Thanks

You can try this:
A. Go to Drive Properties > Shadow Copies > Select Drive > Settings.
B. Stop the CPS and VSS services
