Solution : Error opening PowerPoint document which mentions “Please ensure that you have access privileges to read or write the document and that is not encrypted.”

I’ve found the problem and a part solution. If user 2 logs onto XP Client and opens a PowerPoint document when he is the owner, he can open, edit and save the document. However, if he is not the owner then he cant save the document. My colleague has found a MAC discussion which explains the situation. To explain in breif, Mac OS takes the union of the POSIX permisions and the ACE’s with ACE’s deny taking presedence. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1696702
