Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Guide – How to get Shiny Miraidon & Koraidon

Shiny Miraidon

Here’s how to get Shiny Miraidon and Koraidon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, two box legendary Pokemon you’ll encounter early in your journey.

How to get Shiny Miraidon & Koraidon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

At the start of the game, you can’t get Shiny versions of the three starter Pokemon without first breeding them. They’re shiny locked at that early point in the game, so restarting your game will have no effect on their appearance. Unfortunately, Koraidon and Miraidon share this limitation. They do not have Shiny variants in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Although previous generation games allowed you to obtain shiny versions of certain legendary Pokemon, this is not the case with these two in Scarlet and Violet at the moment.

Even if you follow the steps to obtain a second Koraidon or Miraidon, you will not be able to soft-reset these to be shiny.

Will there be DLC for Shiny Koraidon or Miraidon?

With the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC just being announced, there’s a good chance that the Area Zero-themed DLC will include a way to get a shiny Koraidon or Miraidon.

Pokemon Sword and Shield’s DLC even had a special raid feature that made it easier to get past legendary Pokemon in their shiny forms. Something similar could happen here, or the Pokemon could be giving something away as a Mystery Gift later on.
