Will the Overwatch 2 Archives event return in 2023?
As of this writing, Blizzard has made no announcement regarding the return of the Archives event in Overwatch 2. It’s possible that the Archives event will return for a few different reasons. Since Overwatch 2 will have a single-player story, the Archives event could coincide with the launch of the new mode.
However, this could also be a reason to remove the Archives event. Because the original Overwatch game was never intended to be a single-player experience, Blizzard may have felt compelled to tell the story of the game through the event. However, now that single-player is confirmed for Overwatch 2, the Archives event may be deemed unnecessary.
For the time being, we can only speculate on when the Archives event in Overwatch 2 will take place. The Archives event has traditionally begun around April 11th. So keep an eye out for updates on this event around that time.
What will occur during the Overwatch 2 Archives event?
The Overwatch 2 Archives event will feature a major new addition—a PVE event. Players will form squads, take on the roles of specific heroes, and defeat waves of enemies as a team, all while experiencing whatever story element Blizzard has planned for the event.
This event resembles the Halloween Junkenstein event in many ways. In addition to the PVE mode, a large number of Legendary skins are usually dropped during this time. During the Archives event, there can be up to 8 new Legendary skins. It is, for good reason, one of the most popular Overwatch events of the year.
