Problem : Cannot Scan to Shared Network Folder

I’ve just purchased a Canon ScanFront 220 desktop scanner.

I’ve configured the network interface to have a static IP on our network, as well as the proper gateway, DNS servers, etc.

I’m pretty sure that shared folder address book entry within the scanner is configred properly.  The domain account associated to the entry does have Full Control to the network share folder and the entered password for that account is set correctly.

When I attempt to scan a document to the share folder, I get the following error:
“Failed to send the files.  Error 53: The network path was not found.  File name: xxxxxxxxx”
Even in this error message, the filename and folder path is correctly formatted.

I’ve upgraded the scanner with the latest software from Canon’s website.


Solution : Cannot Scan to Shared Network Folder

Canon finally returned my call and resolve the issue.

The scanner requires a WINS server.  Once we activated one of our DC’s as a WINS server and set a static entry for the file server and the scanner, SMB scans worked normally.
