Problem: Schema Master Role Transfer (Insufficient access rights to perform the operation) via ntdsutil
Tried to use the GUI and ntdsutil and neither way can I get the Schema Master role to transfer. I read if you seize the role it can never belong to the server it was seized from agian. [unless reinstalled] I dont want that, becase it will be a DC again after I demote then promote it.
I know dcpromo is supposed to be able to auto transfer roles, but will it do so even if now I currently dont have the rights to move the role manually.
All roles save Schema Master I was able to manually transfer all via GUI, but as for Schema Master neither GUI nor ntdsutil are working to transfer the role!
I wonder if I should just use dcpromo to try to get the role auto transfered since I can’t manually move it, and I’m scared of seizing the role.

Should I get better rights, if so which and how long after I get the rights does it take to be active?
Should I just run dcpromo and be done with it {even with my plain admin rights}
Should I seize the role even though the server can never hold the role again unless re-installed
Solution: Schema Master Role Transfer (Insufficient access rights to perform the operation) via ntdsutil
To move the Schema master role, your account has to be a member of the Schema Admins group.
Logon with an account that is in this group and try again.
