Taskbar Transparency is a portable software for Windows Vista and Windows 7, which allows adjusting the transparency of the taskbar according to custom defined transparency levels. This way you can easily tweak your taskbars transparency and even make it invisible in order to view the under lying wallpaper.
Launch Taskbar Transparency software, right click on system tray icon and select Settings from the menu that appears.
After that, hit a key combination to assign custom hotkey (e.g. Ctrl+Alt+M) and select transparency level. For example, 255 is the maximum level for an opaque taskbar, reducing the transparency will require selecting a lower level such as 120, 110, 100, etc. If you wish to make the taskbar invisible, then select level 0.
You can change taskbar transparency between transparent and opaque by hitting the assigned hotkey. Below is a comparison of a transparent taskbar at transparency level 170 as compared to the default 255 opaque taskbar.
